Adult day care provides respite for caregivers and a welcome change of scene for seniors. Our “Social Program” focuses on providing companionship, hobbies or other special interests. In addition, nutritious meals are served.
Social adult day services are of vital importance to physically and mentally frail individuals (including suffers of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders), helping them remain in the community. This model of care also provides family caregivers with critically needed respite from around-the-clock caregiving responsibilities.
Social model adult day service programs:
- sustain frail elderly persons in the community by providing essential assistance with such activities of daily living as eating, walking and using the bathroom;
- provide care in a way that encourages independence and considers the individual's strengths and interests;
- offer a respite for family and other caregivers so that they can continue to provide the majority of the care at home while remaining productive members of the workforce;
- make available supportive services to caregivers to extend their caregiving ability through case management, education and support groups.
